The website shows the current buying and selling prices for each listed Krugerrand size, and when the market information was last updated.
Prices can move with the gold market. Contact us about your coins and we’ll confirm the final rand amount before you proceed.
The website shows the latest available market observation and its update time. Prices refresh every five minutes while current data is available. If the market information becomes too old or unavailable, GoldGuard prices are not shown.
We show prices for 1 oz, ½ oz, ¼ oz and ¹⁄₁₀ oz gold Krugerrands. Contact us to confirm availability before visiting or sending coins.
Yes. The 1 oz gold Krugerrand contains one full troy ounce of fine gold, approximately 31.1035 grams. Copper makes up the rest of its 22-carat alloy, bringing the complete coin’s weight to about 33.93 grams. The half, quarter and tenth-ounce coins contain the corresponding fraction of fine gold.
The year does not change the fine-gold content of a standard Krugerrand of the same denomination. A 1 oz coin contains one troy ounce of fine gold. Proof coins and special collector editions can have other considerations, so tell us about any certificates, packaging or unusual features when you enquire.
Gold spot is a reference for the metal itself. A Krugerrand is a finished coin, and its price also reflects the costs of manufacturing, distribution and dealing. Compare the actual rand purchase price or payout for your coin size, rather than treating the spot chart as a coin quotation.
Bring a valid South African identity document, or a valid passport where applicable. We’ll tell you beforehand if proof of address or any other documents are required.
Buyers pay GoldGuard by immediate EFT. When GoldGuard buys from you, we pay by immediate EFT into a bank account in your name. We do not accept or pay cash, and card payments are not available.
You can collect at our Hatfield office after the price is agreed and your EFT payment has been confirmed. If you use another option, GoldGuard will confirm the timing, cost and conditions with you first.
Bring your Krugerrands, valid identification and bank-account confirmation in your name. We’ll confirm whether proof of address or any additional documents apply before you visit.
We weigh, appraise and authenticate your coins in your presence. The exact assessment depends on the coin presented.
Genuine Krugerrands are generally accepted if they have not been defaced. All coins remain subject to GoldGuard’s in-person assessment.
